Merry Christmas!

Hi Everyone,

The Innova baby is still out on her crate and the 10ft poles have yet to arrive. My Penny is still for sale. Had a few bites from Craig’s List but mostly hassle. I think I’ll try Ebay after the holidays. Everyone seems to want something for nothing!

I’ve been working on a new class “Circular Inspiration” and doing samples for it on the PF. I was thinking of a 1/2 day class but I think it may have to go a whole day. This one is based loosely on a website showing how to draw a mandala freehand. http://www.premaspace.com/mandalas/ . Watch “How to grow a mandala”. So soothing to watch. I was very inspired and have drawn many like this but as usual felt the need to translate to the sewing machine and share my enthusiasm with everyone I know. So, hopefully I will be able to make a nice full day class from this. One thing I am struggling with is how to make circular registration marks. You don’t need them when drawing a small one but you do when attempting to sew out a larger one. The largest so far is about 15 “. Here is a sneak peek at a sweatshirt in progress. Click to see a closeup.

I leave for SC and the granddaughters on Friday so have to wind up my shopping/wrapping/sewing/mailing this week. I mailed out a package to them last week with a box of already cut squares. I plan on doing a lot of sewing with Sheila & Chloe and maybe will find something for Abbi too.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.

Well…So much to tell and nothing to show

Image

My sister, Lynn came down from Lake City on Saturday to go the West Palm quilt show. It happened to be the last day of the show so when we got around to the booth for Innova, my dream machine they made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. Now I have TWO quilting machines under this small roof and one of them has to go! I guess I will list the Penny on Craig’s list and a few other free places and cross my fingers I can sell the her before the rest  of my new machine arrives. I got the demo from the show and the frame is only about 50″ wide. They are shipping the 10 ft long poles and frame pieces in a few weeks. Here is a link to a pdf fact sheet with a few pictures, pass it around! PENNYWINKLE PROFESSIONAL 18. You can also go to this link to view. http://www.quiltkitsandmoreatfas.com/product/PPMID-2  (which has really good prices on fabric packages too)

If any of my friends out there know of someone who might be interested, please send this to them. They can be quilting by next week! I’ve had my Penny for two years and have grown very fond of her but I have outgrown her size and capabilities. She is running so well lately that I haven’t changed anything but needles and thread in over a month. She will make someone a very nice Christmas present.

Well, I had three of Lynn’s quilts to finish before she got here but I didn’t take any pictures to show you. Hopefully she will add some to her Photoshop album for me. She also took some pictures of me with my new Innova in the booth but I haven’t seen those yet either. Something to look forward to I guess:-)

I’m also beginning to panic a bit, did you know that Christmas is only 6 weeks away? I will leave for SC and the granddaughters on 12/16 so not much time left for me. All of my customer quilts are finished thank goodness but I had planned on making a few gifts before I go. Maybe over the Thanksgiving weekend. Shopping on black Friday can be dangerous to my depleted pocketbook so maybe a nice project to keep me at home is in order. Lots of other things here at home I could do too, but none of it is fun stuff.

I’ll let you know when Lynn gets some more pictures. It looks like I won’t be quilting for a little while but Stay Tuned for the next chapter!

Please stop and see my most favorite web site ever. This young girl is just brimming with enthusiasm and new ieas. I go there often when looking for something new and different. Hope you like it too?

What have I been up to?

Well……..I’ve been quilting up a storm. I finished all of the quilts for my friend Hutch, one for Beth, one for Maryann and three or four for Fabric Art Shop. Pictures have been added to the gallery. Oh yes, I also finished a small commissioned quilt for a birthday. Busy busy!

My sister Lynn was in Georgia last week and took some wonderful pictures while she was there. I did the quilt on the porch rail for her. The cocker spaniel is Charlie. Here is a link to her Photoshop gallery. Lhaberlpics.photoshop.com

As I am quilting along I think of lots of things that I’d share with you if only you were here beside me. I think I’ll try and make a “Tips & Hints”  page and get some of them down in written form. Stay tuned for that develpoment.

My Pennywinkle Professional “aka “Penny” has been in an exceptional mood lately and I’m just whizzing along with these quilts. Not tension issues what so ever no matter what thread I’m using. What a blessing. The quilt I’m working on now has 7 diffierent thread colors so far. I can’t decide which is easier, doing all of one color and then starting at the top again with another one (LOTS of rolling back & forth) or changing colors seven times each pass (about 18 inches). I’m changing colors each pass right now and it is very time consuming. This one will also have to be turned to do the final borders. Which reminds me – that will be hint #1 – my new mounting system, Renae’s Red Snappers. Makes loading and turning quilts easy-peasy. Pictured in the gallery. Here is a link to Quilts On The Corner where you can see  Renae in action and purchase the mounting system. http://quiltsonthecorner.com/home

Welcome To My Place!

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to my very first web page and blog.  Right now getting this web page and blog up will be a great hurdle but I’m really looking forward to being able to share what I’m working on with you.

I just came back home from teaching two classes at Fabric Art Shop this past weekend. My students were all very excited and as usual, I learned as much from them as they did from me. They inspired me to continue developing new quilting classes and patterns, so here we go!
